The Alberta Food Processors Association (AFPA) was honoured to kick off the 2025 Calgary Stampede by celebrating the heart of our province, our “Made in Alberta” food and beverage companies. From the first moment of the parade to the final sample handed out, the Stampede was an incredible showcase of Alberta’s thriving agri-food and beverage industry.
It all started with spotting some of our favourite Made in Alberta products in the Calgary Stampede Parade, proudly including a delicious sample of “Big Chief” to mark the moment. That energy carried right into the Made in Alberta Lounge, perched atop the Nutrien Centre, where industry leaders, buyers, and food lovers gathered from across Canada and around the globe.
Our team was thrilled to host an impressive lineup of local companies who shared their stories and samples with guests. A huge thank you goes out to:
- Wow Factor Desserts
- Modern Whisk
- Boom Baby Food
- Oh Ghee
- Latin Food Specialties Market and Kitchen
- H2D Foods (Smoothies)
- Bakers Bakery
These makers brought the taste of Alberta to life, proving that innovation and quality go hand in hand with local pride.
Throughout the 10 days, we spent time sharing stories, hosting tours, meeting with national buyers, and engaging in meaningful conversations with both federal and provincial politicians, all with one goal: to amplify Alberta’s agri-food voice and showcase the strength of our local companies.
The energy in the Made in Alberta Lounge was unmatched as buyers, suppliers, and food and beverage leaders came together for a true taste of Western Canada. The connections sparked during the Stampede are just the beginning of what we know will be long-lasting collaborations and business opportunities.
A highlight of our time was the International Agriculture Reception, cohosted by McDonald’s and Made in Alberta, where local companies like Salted (caramels) and the award-winning Onie Granola wowed guests with bold Alberta flavours. Every attendee left with a special Made in Alberta gift bag featuring:
- Woolly Rhino Pepper
- Drop Caramel
- Old Country Sausage
- TM Spice
- Your Preference Gummies
- Nature’s Finest Honey
Finally, we’d like to extend our sincere thanks to RJ Sigurdson, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, for taking the time to meet with our members and support their continued growth across Alberta.
To all the partners, members, and guests who joined us, thank you for helping us bring the Made in Alberta story to life.
Until next year, yeehaw!
